Don’t Get Dragged Into Chaos:
This week, we face two opponents, who thrive in incompetent chaos.
That style looks like a typical unorganized pickup game: constant ball chasing, rushed decisions, careless turnovers, whistles every possession, and basketball played in a panicked, random state. There’s no structure, no discipline, and no real team concept.
That chaos is their comfort zone — and it’s their path to winning.
Our job is to refuse to play that game.
When we lower ourselves to their level, the results become random. Random favors the lesser team. We win by being the professionals — the most mature, disciplined, and fundamentally sound team on the floor.
Offensively, their kryptonite is simple:
- Less dribbling. More passing.
- Paint touches are non-negotiable.
- Take great shots — not just the first available shot.
Touch the paint. Collapse the defense. Then kick it out to whoever has the best look.
Defensively is where this game will be decided.
- Keep the ball out of the paint
- Force contested, long shots
- Secure the defensive rebound
- Control the tempo
When we do those things, we take the fish out of water. Chaos teams struggle when the game slows down, when they have to execute, and when nothing comes easy.
Understand this: lesser teams play this way because they don’t know another way to compete. Chaos is all they have.
We don’t play chaos basketball.
We play competent, disciplined, fundamentally sound team basketball.
That’s how we separate. That’s how we win.
