Embracing Our Basketball Journey Together:
Several years ago, I had the privilege of taking over a nascent basketball program at Woods Charter, where establishing a winning culture was a significant challenge.
During my first year, we faced numerous ups and downs, with two wins amid many obstacles. However, we remained competitive in most of our games, a notable shift from previous years.
By our second year, we transformed into a consistently winning team. While I take pride in our victories and the positive changes within the program, my greatest pride lies in the players who were instrumental in this transformation. Their dedication and commitment laid the foundation for our success, and I believe this is something many may not fully appreciate.
At Seaforth, I see many parallels to my previous experience. This year, I am excited to witness a group of young men — the current basketball players — leading a positive cultural transformation that will contribute to our program's success for years to come.
Our goal is to prepare thoroughly and strive to win every game. However, regardless of the outcomes, you are already building a strong, winning culture that will benefit the program in the long run. For this effort, I have tremendous respect for each of you.
Looking ahead to this week, we have three games: Southeast Alamance, Northwood, and Jordan Matthews.
Let’s give our best effort on the court. Regardless of the results, I will always be incredibly proud of your hard work and dedication!
