It's win or go home! Let's lock in!
The Next Phase: 0–0
Conference Champions.
Regular Season.
Tournament.
That’s not normal. That’s earned.
You’ve put in months of work — early mornings, long practices, tough losses, film sessions, lifting, conditioning, sacrifice. Friday night we celebrated what you accomplished. Saturday we stayed together, enjoyed it, and took a breath.
But now?
We reset.
The record is 0–0.
The banner doesn’t win the next game. The next possession does.
Respect the Moment. Respect the Opponent.
We open the state playoffs at home against Dixon High School out of Holly Ridge.
After watching three games of film, here’s the truth:
They’re solid. They compete. They shoot it relatively well.
And if we’re not sharp, not focused, not disciplined — any team in March can make it tricky.
Their strength are their guards and small forward — the 1, 2, and 3 positions. They’re not physically overwhelming, but they’re aggressive and confident. They will take the first available shot. They want to shoot the three. Especially from the corners.
They primarily play man-to-man and will look to trap the wings. At times they’ll shift into a 2-3 or 1-3-1 zone to disrupt rhythm.
Good.
Because when we play our brand of basketball — connected, unselfish, disciplined — we are very difficult to guard.
Offense: Trust the Ball
If we move the ball, we win.
If we share it, cut hard, reverse it, attack gaps — we will create high-quality shots all night long. The trap only works if we hold it. The zone only works if we stand.
When the ball moves, the defense breaks down.
We don’t need hero ball.
We need team ball.
That’s been our identity all year.
Defense: Set the Tone
This is where we separate.
They want threes.
We dictate twos.
Keep the ball out of the middle.
Contest every outside shot.
Run them off the line.
Finish the possession with a defensive rebound.
One shot. That’s it.
If we defend the paint, communicate through screens, and rebound with force — we can have a dominant defensive night.
Championship teams don’t just score.
They suffocate.
One Practice. No Excuses.
We have one practice to prepare.
One.
That means urgency. That means intensity. That means focus from the moment you step in the gym.
Be early Monday. No excuses.
Locked in.
Ready to drill every situation.
Ready to sharpen every detail.
March basketball punishes the unfocused.
It rewards the disciplined.
The Standard
You’ve already made history.
Now you have the opportunity to extend it.
The celebration is over.
The mission continues.
Bring focus.
Bring toughness.
Bring discipline.
Bring each other.
0–0.
Let’s go to work.
Second Round — High Point Central (If We Advance):
We’re not looking past Dixon. One game at a time. That’s the standard.
But if we handle our business, we’ll have a quick turnaround for a second-round matchup at High Point Central (on Thursday, 2/26). That means preparation doesn’t just happen on the court — it happens in how you manage your life this week.
This is a championship-level week.
That means:
- Stay on top of your schoolwork.
- Handle your responsibilities at home.
- Take care of your body.
- Hydrate.
- Get proper sleep.
- Dress appropriately and protect your health.
- Minimize distractions.
Your time will be limited. Long practices. Late nights. High intensity.
If you don’t organize your week now, the week will organize you.
Be proactive today. Look ahead. Plan your assignments. Communicate with teachers. Knock out chores. Control what you can control so when it’s time to hoop, your mind is clear and your focus is sharp.
And understand this — if we truly lock in, we have the potential to do something special. Not just compete. Not just survive.
Overachieve.
Extend this run. Continue making history.
One game at a time. One week of discipline. One focused group.
Let’s lock in.
Love you guys.
