Open-gym Schedule:

This week, there are two (2) open gyms:

Looking forward to seeing you!

Optional Open Gym — Extra Work, Extra Growth:

Open gym is completely optional. It’s an opportunity for players who want to put in extra work and continue developing their game.

Players who attend consistently not only sharpen their skills but also gain valuable chances to improve in front of the coaching staff. Over time, these extra reps have made a real difference for those who take advantage of them.

Not attending will never be held against any player. The only concern is that those who don’t attend — and aren’t training on their own — may not develop as quickly as teammates who are. That gap often shows when tryouts arrive.

The Standard is the Standard:

At Seaforth High School, the standard is the standard.

Everything we do as a men’s basketball program is built on one clear expectation: we perform at a high level in all areas of life. Winning basketball games is important, but building an exceptional culture is our true mission.

Priorities That Guide Us

Our foundation is built on priorities that never waver:

  1. God – faith and integrity guide how we live and lead.
  2. Family – respect, loyalty, and love start at home.
  3. School – academics come first, and excellence in the classroom is expected.
  4. Basketball – when it’s time to compete, we commit ourselves fully to the game.

When players, coaches, and families embrace this order, basketball becomes more than a sport — it becomes a tool to build character, discipline, and lifelong success.

A Commitment to Excellence

Every player who wears Seaforth across their chest carries a responsibility:

  • Fundamentally Sound – We take pride in the details, mastering the basics and executing them under pressure.
  • Basketball IQ – We strive to be the smartest team in the league, making great decisions and playing the game the right way.
  • Outstanding Character – Our players are expected to be role models: respectful kids at home, diligent students in the classroom, and leaders both on the court and in the locker room.

These expectations are non-negotiable. Our culture is defined by consistency — whether in practice, games, school, or the community.

Beyond Seaforth

By committing to these standards, the Seaforth Men’s Basketball program will be more than just another high school team. We will be a model program, recognized not only at Seaforth, but across Chatham County and the state of North Carolina.

We aren’t chasing trends or comparing ourselves to others. We know exactly who we are, and we hold fast to what matters most. Because at the end of the day, the standard is the standard.

The Mindful Athlete — Lessons for Seaforth Basketball:

  1. Lock in on the moment. Don’t worry about the last play or the next one — win this possession.
  2. Play with control. Slow down, breathe, and make smart decisions instead of reacting with emotion.
  3. Pressure makes you better. Tired legs, close games, tough drills — that’s where growth happens.
  4. The mind leads the body. Skills matter, but focus, confidence, and calm under pressure separate good players from great ones.
  5. Stack good days. Consistency — in practice, school, and life — is how you build long-term success.

Coach’s Note:

These lessons aren’t just about basketball — they’re about life. If you commit to them, you’ll not only become better players, but better men. Remember, the standard is the standard.
