Thoughts on the Sheetz Christmas Basketball Tournament:

I want to take a quick moment to talk about our experience at the Sheetz Christmas basketball tournament at Southwest Guilford High School. We gained valuable experience that will help us grow as a team.

Even though we didn’t win all the games, our opponents had an impressive, combined record of 27-4, with two teams in first place and one in second place in their conferences. We played competitive in each of those games and had chances that could have changed the results.

I’m happy with how we're progressing as a team, including:

• Players finding their niche
• Gaining confidence in handling different types of defensive presses, whether man-to-man or zone
• Getting better at offensive and defensive rebounding
• Learning to play tough in gritty situations
• Showing mental toughness when games get intense

Participating in this tournament helped us improve these areas.

Looking ahead, I believe this experience has prepared us for conference play starting this week against North Moore.

Let’s get ready for what should be an exciting part of our season beginning on Friday, January 3rd.

I appreciate all of you, and I can’t wait to see you at practice on Wednesday, January 1st!
