Open-gym Schedule:
This week, there are 2 open gyms:
- Mon, 6/24 (from 6:00pm - 7:30pm)
- Tue, 6/25 (from 6:00pm - 7:30pm)
Since 5/15/24, we’ve been eligible to engage in basketball activity for 17 days. Out of the 17 days, we’ve conducted 11 open gyms, a bootcamp and a meet & greet event.
Because of player commitment, our activity level is over 70%!
As we say, the standard is the standard!
Please note, this week, I’ll be out of town. Coach Andre Nabors will be leading open gym workouts. Keep up the momentum and be all-in with Coach Nabors!
Player/Coach Communication:
For the cause of accountability, maturity and responsibility, it is imperative all (day-to-day) coach communication comes directly from player.
Parents are encouraged to directly communicate with coach when “matter-at-hand” is beyond scope of what player can handle themselves.
This greatly helps player (in the long-term) and lays groundwork for team success!
Identify What You Do Best:
The beauty of a basketball team is when each player offers something different and plays together. This maximizes a team’s probability for success.
Seaforth basketball is about playing together as a team. Metaphorically speaking, we want to play as a closed fist, as opposed to an open hand.
Each “potential” player should identify what they do better than anyone else on team. Once identified, hone and demonstrate these skills at every opportunity.
For most players, shooting (the basketball) won’t be the skill they do better than everyone else.
No problem!
Instead, each player should ask themselves, what else can they offer (other than shooting). Is it ball handling, passing, defense, rebounding, teamwork, leadership, glue guy, etc.?
Find your niche! Identify your role!
This is your best chance to help Seaforth’s basketball team (varsity or JV).
